BOSTON, Massachusetts: Since escaping from a pet carrier at Boston’s Logan International Airport some three weeks ago, a pet cat named Rowdy was finally caught this week after dodging airport personnel, airline employees, and animal experts.
In a statement, an airport spokesperson said, “Whether out of fatigue or hunger, we will never know, but this morning she finally let herself be caught.”
Rowdy was given a health check and will be returned to her owner, Patty Sahli, who said, “I am kind of in disbelief. I thought, ‘What are the odds we are actually going to get her back? But I got a call this morning and I am just so shocked,” as quoted by The Associated Press.
On 24th June, Sahli and her husband returned to the US after 15 years in Germany with the U.S. Army. When their Lufthansa flight landed, 4-year-old Rowdy, a black cat with green eyes, escaped from her cage to chase birds.
Rowdy’s escape set off a massive search involving airport and Lufthansa personnel, construction workers and animal welfare workers, as well as the use of wildlife cameras and safe-release traps.
Despite numerous sightings, Rowdy always eluded her pursuers, before she was eventually captured.
“It was such a community effort. We are just so grateful to everyone who helped look for her,” Sahli said.
