BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –Florida Tech was included in a first-ever list from Fortune magazine that ranked the nation’s top online MBA programs.
The magazine invited more than 200 online MBA programs to participate, with programs ranked using four components: program score, Fortune 1000 score, brand score, and prestige score.
Florida Tech, ranked No. 95, was one of just four Florida schools on the list.
The ranking components brought together a host of metrics and measurements:
■ Program score: Calculated using a 29-question form, this metric measured the academic strength of incoming students by factoring in average undergraduate GPA and average GMAT scores of incoming students, along with student body size, one-year retention rate, and graduation rate.
■ Brand score: Working with Ipsos, Fortune surveyed 2,500 business professionals and hiring managers to get their thoughts on specific business schools overall, not just online programs.
■ Fortune 1000 score: This looked at the number of each school’s MBA alumni who are executives (C-suite only) at Fortune 1000
■ Prestige score: This score was developed by compiling top rankings from other publications and outlets, including Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.
“In 2020, recruiters reported shelling out $115,000 median salaries to top MBA graduates or 70 percent more than they paid top bachelor’s degree recipients,” Fortune said in introducing its rankings. “Not only is the MBA alive and well—it’s thriving.”
The Fortune rankings join a host of recent accolades for Florida Tech’s online business programs, including in U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs, The Princeton Review’s Top 50 Online MBA programs, and Great Business Schools list of top online cybersecurity MBA programs.
