Date:

Have you ever wondered what Gordon Ramsay Net Worth is? Well, the world-famous chef has amassed quite a fortune.

While you may know Ramsay from one of his many television shows, it was his accomplishments as a chef that put him on the map.

With over a dozen Michelin stars and several successful TV shows, as of August 2022, Gordon Ramsay has a net worth of $220 Million.

In this post, we’ll explain how the restaurateur and famous chef accrued his wealth!

Early Life

Ramsay was born on November 8th, 1966 in Johnstone, Scotland. He’s the second of four children by his mother, Helen, and father, Gordon James Sr.

Ramsay has publicly disclosed that his childhood was a struggle for him and his siblings.

Due to his father’s often-changing dreams and struggles with alcoholism, the family moved several times throughout his early years.

Luckily, when he was nine, they found stability in Stratford, England, where he spent much of his adolescence.

Ramsay’s culinary and hospitality career began as a teenager when he enrolled in North Oxfordshire Technical College to study hotel management.

By his early 20s, he was working in hotel kitchens and eventually with Marco Pierre White, an original TV chef.

After a couple of years with White, Ramsay decided to leave for France to study French Cuisine.

3 years later, Ramsay needed a break from the kitchen and decided to join the staff on the private yacht Idlewild, in Bermuda.

His time on the yacht allowed him to relax while also exposing him to Italian cuisine and the region’s gastronomy.

These experiences would allow him to secure his first role as a head chef.

Restaurants

Ramsay’s first head chef role was at a Three-Michelin starred restaurant in Chelsea.

Soon after starting there, Pierre White returned and made Ramsay an offer he couldn’t refuse. White chose Ramsay to be head chef at Aubergine (formerly Rossmore).

Furthermore, he included a 10% ownership share in the restaurant. Aubergine won two Michelin stars during Ramsay’s tenure but he left in 1998 due to a business conflict.

This led Ramsay to set out on his own to create his own restaurant group. Ramsay called this decision one of the most monumental in his life.

In 1998, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay was opened in Chelsea. By 2001, the restaurant had earned its third Michelin star, making Ramsay the first Scot to accomplish the feat.

Since then, Ramsay has opened restaurants in Europe, Canada, the United States, and across the world.

Television – Hell’s KitchenMasterChef, etc.

Besides being a world-renowned chef, Ramsay is one of the world’s most successful TV personalities.

Specifically, he’s known for his roles on several TV shows highlighting his culinary expertise and his fiery temper. This began with Boiling Point in 1999 in the United Kingdom.

Most notably, Masterchef and Hell’s Kitchen have each aired for over a decade in the United States alone.

These and others like Hotel Hell, have exposed viewers to a competitive culinary setting and Rasmay’s incredibly high standards.

Like fellow A-lister, Simon Cowell, Ramsay’s TV career has been essential in allowing him to build his brand and grow his net worth.
