An Oklahoma man who fed a 12-year-old girl at the age of 24 is serving time in prison for the next two decades.

Juan Miranda-Jarathis year 25 years old, pleaded guilty this week to first degree rape of a minor under the age of 14, according to Tulsa . District Court Records.

The same files show that Miranda-Jara was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He will receive credit for his time served but must complete 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole.

In Oklahoma, individuals convicted of crimes such as first-degree murder or first-degree rape are subject to execution. 85 percent of their prison sentence.

The judge also ordered Miranda-Jara to pay about $1,000 in fines and court costs, and he would be forced to register as a sex offender.

That’s when he and the victim went to the hospital for her to give birth. Their excitement was short-lived.

Soon after Miranda-Jara entered the hospital with the girl he considers his pregnant girlfriend, the hospital staff realized something was amiss.

They were right, when the Tulsa Police Department identified it as a 12-year-old girl staying with Miranda-Jara. Perhaps even more shocking, however, is that Miranda-Jara doesn’t seem to know that what he did was against the law.

“The suspect, Juan Miranda-Jara, testified that he had an affair with the 12-year-old victim beginning in October 2020. The victim was in hospital and was in labor at the time.” arrest report. “Miranda-Jara admits that he is the biological father of a 12-year-old child.”

Many in the community began asking where the victim’s parents were, and two weeks later, Tulsa Police Department catch the girl’s mother.

The authorities have said that Desiree Castaneda and other family members knew all about her daughter’s relationship and pregnancy.

“The investigation revealed that the victim’s mother and family members were aware of the relationship between the victim and Miranda-Jara,” reads Castaneda’s arrest report. “Family permits the relationship, and there are family photos of the victim and suspect bathing.”

Castaneda is awaiting trial on charges of child neglect and facilitation of child sexual abuse. Unlike Miranda-Jara, she’s choosing a jury trial.

She signed a waiver of jury trial on February 14, but a deadline for that is currently in the air due to federal charges she is facing in a separate case.

Castaneda was charged with the alleged manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine in an ongoing case in the Northern District Court of Oklahoma, United States.

According to the Tulsa Police Department, she has also lost custody of her daughter, whose father is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence after being convicted of rape.

Miranda-Jara also has no custody of her children and won’t be eligible for parole until he’s 41.
